It all started Saturday morning at the beach where we were having our retreat. We were simply eating breakfast when five little boonie piggies wandered onto the beach area . . .
. . . and Joyce, being the animal lover that she is, baited one in with a bit of her breakfast.
Soon, a student also began to draw a little piggy in, but more than one of the little porkers got interested in the process.
As one particular piggy got really nice and close . . .
. . . the student leaped forward, grabbing the little guy by his forelegs. Very swiftly, a fellow student (out of the frame of the photo below) grabbed the piggy by his hind legs . . .
. . . and the two of them ran off toward the end of the beach. A staff person, insightfully understanding that these two young men had more in mind than a prank (can you say, "Barbecue?") convinced them that they should be godly young men and show the little porker mercy and grace.
So "Porky" was released to the jungle to await another day and another hunter. (And rather than bbq pork for lunch, we had burgers and hot dogs!)
Thanks to all of you who prayed for this weekend. Yes, the retreat was fun! Yes, it was a good time of reflection and drawing close to God! And yes, our students are merciful . . . to "this little piggy" who lived to see another day!

That's a great story! I didn't know that wild pigs live on Guam--or were they from a local farm? Anyway, it could have been worse: you could have been inundated by those brown snakes that Guam is famous for, rather than furry little piggies! LOL
