Winding up . . . or winding down?

English is a funny language: as we are winding up the semester, we are starting to wind down. Go figure! And I (Melody) get to be the one to try and explain idiomatic confusions such as these to my students! :-) All teasing aside, we do enjoy what we are doing here on Guam. Shortly after Spiritual Emphasis Weekend (which I reported on last time), we had a PIBC prayer meeting at our house - and packed about 20 people into our tiny living room! Nobody seems Here you see our living room from left to right, filled with people!

The following weekend our PIBC community group went on a Boonie stomp to Shark's Hole and Lost Pond. At the right you will see some students helping Mary Lou over some of the lava-rock outcroppings along the way. This hike is fairly rigorous because of these rock climbs along the way, but the hike (over 1 mile each way) was lovely. After arriving at Shark's Hole, we hiked about 1/4 mile into the jungle to Lost Pond before a twilight hike back down the beach to our cars. It was really beautiful! (The little rock islands you see in the left hand photo, by the way, are quite similar to the rock islands in Palau where Erin has been teaching, though quite a bit smaller.)

We have been busy winding down at the campus, but we have also been having fun decorating our house for Christmas for the first time. This time last year, we were painting and moving in, just in time for Erin to join us for the holidays. This year we purchased an inexpensive "fake" tree to decorate for the holiday. It was fun getting it all set up, and our friend and fellow missionary, Mary Lou, was with us to help! We'll have more on decking the halls in a few days on a later entry. For now, I will just say that we are looking forward to finishing up with finals and closing the campus for a few days to enjoy a break . . . and the students are too! Look for our next blog in a day or two with semester end activities and photos of a hike some of us missionaries took to an underground pool and the rocky eastern coast of Guam. Blessings! Melody and Tim
