Semester Break is Coming!
I just checked my previous post - has it really been over a month since I have had a chance to post a new entry? My apologies to any who check regularly. I guess this is truly a "mute" testimony to how busy things have been! It's all good! In this photo, you'll see how "blessed" our PIU group of workers has grown to! This photo was taken last month at a monthly prayer and potluck at the home of Jeff and Mary Johnson. These times of worship, prayer, and fellowship are a wonderful time of refreshing for all involved!
One activity from this past month that we had was a hike and swim at nearby Pagat Caves. The caves' hiking trail is located within 3 miles of campus. The trek through the jungle and down some rugged terrain, into a cavern about 100' through a passageway that is tight in a couple places is well worth the work! We lit candles and the students and staff in our group enjoyed a cooling swim before climbing back out of the cave and hiking back to the cars. We returned to campus for ice cream cones! What a great day!
A regular service Melody provides at least twice a semester is administering the TOEFL (English proficiency) test to students. It was a joy to give this test to 17 students and applicants in November; some of them who have been enrolled in an English language learning course make significant improvements in their scores! What a blessing it was to inform them that their hard work and studies are paying off!
We ladies (staff and students) had a fun get-together this fall: the Ladies' Mystery dinner! There were several "stations" located in different rooms on campus and the students spent about 20 minutes at each station. The "mystery" was that they didn't know what they would have to eat in each place! At the end, we all gathered in the main classroom for some games and prayer. It was a very fun evening!
