They're here! :-) Last night, PIU staff and students welcomed Michael, Samantha, Titus, and Courage Owen to Guam! For Michael, it was "Welcome Home!" His comment to me was that he didn't realize until they were approaching the island and preparing to land that he really was "coming home." When they first emerged from the luggage pickup/immigration area, this is all we could see: a huge stack of rolling baggage and baby gear! Titus actually was in the lead with his trolley of luggage, taking his responsibility very seriously.
But when we moved to one side, we were able to see Courage and her mom following the train of gear! Courage had just wakened up upon landing, so she wanted to stay pretty close to mom at first. Everyone looked great, and pretty well-rested for a long flight. The overnight layover in Hawaii must have really helped! (They even got to sneak a bit of a run to the beach in Honolulu after checking in their bags!)
Lucy, one of our PIU students, coaxed Courage into her arms at last! I think the kids are going to really enjoy having all our students' pay so much attention to them!
I had several other photos of the crowd greeting the Owens, but my camera must have been on a slow setting because most of my photos from last night were too blurry to even post! I had to delete a lot of them! But this last one, below and to the right, was pretty good - a shot of Michael, Samantha, and Titus as we exited the airport.
Please keep the Owen family in your prayers as they adjust to the time difference and climate of Guam as well as their new home and work here. Pray also for the safe delivery of baby #3, due on August 2, if I remember correctly! And thank God with us for the Owens' safe arrival.
(Check back in a week for a photo update of summer classes and Friday Field Trips with our summer students!)
