A car wash in 88 degree weather? In November? You bet! Last Saturday, our PIBC students held a car wash to raise money to help fund the college's fall retreat. At left are the girls making tuna sandwiches for the whole car washing crew. The photo at the right is a "bird's-eye view" of the students setting up and getting started on the car wash. God blessed them with plenty of cars to wash and they made over $600!
Saturday afternoon, several of us headed up to Ritidian Point to relax a bit. Tim was finally able to do his first fishing since we arrived here three months ago! (No fishing license required here on Guam!) He didn't catch anything and had a wonderful time in the process! The rest of us snorkeled, swam, floated, fellowshipped and rested a bit. It was very relaxing! Left to right, Melody, Cheryl, Astrid, Karin, and Joyce.
For the past two and a half weeks, we have been house sitting for Tara and Jason, family friends of ours (a young couple from Los Gatos, California who now live here with their two children). We cared for their dog and bunny and enjoyed staying at their home while they vacationed in Australia. They returned this morning, so we have moved back to the Owens to await our close of escrow, due (Lord willing) next week! Here is a photo of Melody "dancing" with Moses, Tara and Jason's dog! Though large, he is quite a love! We'll miss him!
Wow! What a terrific surprise we got this morning in our email! Kirsten, my old "singing partner" from our choir in California, emailed us 22 audio "greeting cards" from several individuals in choir and even one from our director and pianist's children! It was indeed a "warm" moment! And more than a few "warm" tears found their way down my cheeks! Thanks, you guys! It was great to hear from all of you! Here is a picture of me and Tim listening to our "audio cards" this morning in my office! (Ain't the Internet great??) (Yeah, I did say "ain't!") ;-)
Many of you have heard us mention Tim's wonderful support members here at the college. Mo and Ken are wonderful. They are hard workers, willing to do anything that needs doing, and Tim gets so much more work done with their help. This morning I caught Tim and Ken after they wrapped up some work on campus and snapped a quick shot of them before Ken left campus. Pray for Tim, Mo and Ken as they work tirelessly on the endless projects on campus in the tropical heat and humidity. They definitely have "job security" with some of the aging infrastructure here on campus. We are all blessed to have their help! Pray for Tim as he "mentors" them and models what it is to walk daily with Jesus as God and guide.
That's it for this week! We send our love to all and thank you for your prayers, emails, blog comments and financial support as we serve the Lord by serving young Micronesian men and women, training them to serve Him.
Love in Him who loved us first, Melody and Tim
